My view on fitness is based on the foundation of hard work and discipline instilled in me during my years as a competitive athlete and Army officer. I have been a competitive athlete since an early age. As the stereotypical tomboy growing up, I participated in a variety of sports, but fell in love with track and field and basketball. As a scholastic athlete, my dedication paid off, as I qualified for the US High School Nationals in the mile, and earned scholarship offers from top NCAA Division I track programs. After narrowing down the field, and because I wanted to serve my country, I decided to accept a Congressional nomination to the United States Military Academy, West Point New York. During my four years at West Point, I ran NCAA Division I indoor and outdoor track and cross country. As a senior, I was elected Captain of the Cross Country team, and was also the fitness officer for my company of cadets. After graduating from West Point, I was commissioned in the United States Army where I served in a myriad of leadership roles. While stationed at Fort Bragg I was a member of the prestigious Army 10 miler team. For years, I regularly participated in local road races and basketball leagues, and then I discovered CrossFit. I instantly fell in love with it, simply put – because it works when done properly. I hope to have the opportunity to share my passion of health, fitness and CrossFit with you.
My Training Philosophy:
Your goals are my number one priority. I believe that your success is founded upon a mutually agreed upon plan, and our encouraging and inspiring each other to reach that result. Each person is the sum of different parts, and no two people are alike. What does not vary is the fact that you must work to achieve success. Success is hard to achieve, while failure and excuses are easy to make. I guarantee you we will reach your goals so long as we both remain committed to your progress.
You are an individual with individual needs wants and desires. At CrossFIt Prelude, we realize that there is no cookie cutter approach to fitness. What works for someone else, may not necessarily work for you. My philosophy is to approach you as an individual within the context of our bigger programming philosophy. I remain committed to scaling and customizing your workouts according to your individual needs and goals. Your safety and health will remain paramount to all other considerations. As you progress through our Elite School of Fitness, I will ensure that as you advance, it is done in a safe effective manner. I believe that the best results are achieved when exercises are performed safely, and that you only progress when both you and I feel as though you are ready.
