I began my military career in 1991 as an enlisted field artillery Soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division. After three years of Active Duty, I was fortunate enough to be awarded an ROTC Scholarship for nursing at Hampton University, graduating near the top of my class in both nursing and Military Science. After graduation, I served as an Army nurse, working in a broad range of nursing disciplines ranging from the medical-surgical unit, to the neurological intensive care unit, to the surgical and cardiothoracic intensive care units. As an Army nurse, I was able to assist patients across the broad spectrum of the healthcare continuum, which allowed me to provide a healing hand leading them from immediately life threatening care, to restoring them to full functional capacity. While serving as an Army nurse, I was selected to attend the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. My desire to help those in need led me to take a year leave of absence from law school, returning to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC to provide medical care to military personnel injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. After graduating from law school, I accepted a commission as an officer in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

My Training Philosophy:

My training philosophy stems from my experience as a nurse, Army officer, and my relentless study of functional movements and physical training. As a nurse, my knowledge, training, and experience, enables me to provide you with a full understanding of the underlying physical components necessary to assist you in reaching your fitness goals safely. My mantra is to only increase your workload as your skill level and adaptation increases. I believe that the best way for you to achieve your goals is through slow consistent progress in smaller group settings; providing you with constant access to coaches; and formulating a mutually thought out plan to move you closer toward your “Something.”

Effort is ninety-nine percent of the battle. You must remain dedicated to achieving your goal. I have hand selected a team of coaches to help you realize your human potential, and we all remain committed to you from the first moment you become a member of CrossFit Prelude. It’s easy to get started. Just put one foot in front of the other and walk through our door.
